As you may have heard by now the US Soccer Development Acadamy has closed its doors. Rumors of the DA shutting down have been spreading since late last week and today they were confirmed. US Soccer released this statement on Twitter terminating both the Boys and Girls DA effective immediately. Click HERE to read more.

ECNL

Before US Soccer sent their tweet, ECNL already announced the addition of some of the most prominent DA clubs in Southern California. On the Boys side, ECNL announcing that DA clubs would be joining ECNL: Pateadores, Real SoCal, FC Golden State, San Diego Surf, Strikers FC, and Arsenal FC. In contrast, Girls ECNL will only be allowing only two clubs to join as full ECNL members: Real SoCal and San Diego Surf. They have also invited four SoCal clubs to join ECRL (Regional League): Pateadores, Legends FC, Beach FC, and West Coast FC. MLS

In the wake of US Soccer’s announcement, Major League Soccer announced it will launch a new elite youth competition platform that will provide year-round high-level matches for MLS club academy teams and non-MLS academy teams that previously participated in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. No one currently knows who will be a part of this league outside of MLS teams, or when it might start. Click HERE to see the announcement.

USYS

USYS has also promised to fill the void left by US Soccer. They will be actively working toward the creation of a new elite youth soccer structure.
